Day 5: Maui

Leisure day today. We recognized the large, bright hot ball in the sky. That's right, it was sunny for most of the day. Since we were so late getting in last night there was only oatmeal or quinoa for breakfast. Meh! Too hot for oatmeal and no thanks on the quinoa. So a brisk walk of .3 miles for eggs Benedict and focaccia egg and ham sandwich.

Check out our visitor at the back doors. If Kristen's friend from Hawaii knows what this is let us know.

We had discovered the ice maker was not working and found the repair guy working on it upon our return. With all the rain these past few days, it was humid so we needed a rest. Laundry and grocery day. Boring, but got to get it done. After he left, we went for a walk on the beach and found some tidal pools among the lava rocks.

I took the requisite beach picture and sent it off to Kristen (it's our little tradition) to which she typically says, "I want to be on a beach." This time I got "D_ mn it mom. LOL."

Middle of the day heat and we had been in the sun long enough for winterizing mid-westerners. Time to get under cover back at the condo.

Early dinner was 1.3 miles away. Walking is good for you and helps with digestion so off we went. Salmon avocado and California rolls (sushi), Kalua pork quesadilla and Mediterranean flatbread salad with hummus and Feta. Loretta will be happy to know that Bob had a Mai Tai. Not sure why that was important but check that off our bucket list.

If you are keeping count that means that disregarding the beach walk, that's about 3.2 miles. Good start, but less than when we walk the dogs at home. So why do my feet hurt? Sandles instead of walking shoes.
